NEO MUYANGA in conversation with YVETTE CHRISTIANSE
September 24, 12:30pm; 754 Schermerhorn Extension
Neo Muyanga is a composer and founder of the Pan-African Space Station, a music platform on the internet and in venues across the African world, streaming cutting edge music live online 24/7. His own work ranges from Italian madrigal and improvisational jazz to music-performance works based in the archive of slavery, the histories of South African music and the cultural forms emerging in the Indian ocean.
Yvette Christianse is a novelist, poet and literary critic from South Africa. She is professor of English and Africana Studies at Barnard College.
Together, they’ll talk about Neo’s work across media, the place of music in South African radical histories, and the pleasures of play-ing with poetics.
Hosted by Rosalind Morris, curator of Studio @.
All are welcome. Lunch will be served.
